We have no or very few IHOPs in the Great White North, same with Denny's and no Waffle house at all as far as I have ever been able to find. Perhaps we just haven't yet developed a true late night pan-pastry (and related foodstuffs) fascination. We do have astoundingly high numbers of coffee shops (and Tim Horton's is slowly making it's way south) but they don't have a grill / griddle. Just ways to reheat or toast foods. It's not the same. On the other hand we do have free (well paid in taxes any way) health care and I would definintely need that for the inevitable heart attack if I had 24 hour access to diner food! this is one of the things for which I might give up living in Canada for a while: to experince true chain-diner culture.
